Spiritual Life

ChapelConcordia strives to foster growth in Christian faith and community. The goal of campus life is to add a personal spiritual dimension to the academic experience of a Christian University. Students are challenged to grow in faith through many different opportunities and experiences. A brief daily chapel service, led by faculty, students, or guests, is an integral part of campus life. Students are invited to share their musical talents especially during our Friday praise chapels which feature various student led musical groups.

Special Opportunities for Growth

LAMBS - This new group on campus has, as its focus, Christian service. Living out our faith in action is an important part of our life at Concordia and this group will be a way you can reach out to the whole community of Edmonton and beyond.

Mission Trip - During the past 2 spring breaks student led groups have undertaken Mission trips in support of the Mission Boat Ministry along the rugged west coast of British Columbia and with Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots in Northern Saskatchewan. Such trips have added greatly to the life of Concordia and to the communities touched by these special ministries.

Weekly/Biweekly Events

During the academic year students may take part in may spiritual events both on and off campus. Weekly Bible studies, special worship nights, and informal gatherings are all part of the Concordia Christian community. Many of our students are involved in service events in the greater church community of Edmonton, including the leading of special worship times at local congregations and inner city ministry at "The Rock" where students carry on programs with community youth.

Campus Chaplain Pastor Garry Dombrosky is available to all of the campus community. Working within the community and especially the Christian Life representative from Concordia Student Council many events are planned including a special Christian Life Week and guest Pastor of the Week each semester and special services to mark special events in the campus community.

In many other ways, students find that they can develop spiritually at Concordia as they grow in their friendships with each other, worship in the community and through instruction in the classroom.

A Prayer Chapel, located near the student centre, is also available at all times for personal prayer and meditation.
